Bradford Manufacturing Futures and Denso host Open Day

3 Mar 2026

Representatives from industry, education, government, and energy came together at DENSO Marston in Shipley for an open day, focused on collaboration, innovation, and clean growth.

The event celebrated Bradford Manufacturing Futures’ (BMF) one year anniversary since its launch in February last year, organised by founding manufacturing members in collaboration with partners from the University of Bradford, Bradford Council, CR Plus and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. Through hands-on workshops and valuable networking sessions, about 50 attendees explored practical decarbonisation solutions and shared best practice on how manufacturers can work together to achieve clean growth while continuing to thrive.

A standout moment was the guided tour of DENSO Marston’s factory, where visitors learned about the ongoing improvements to processes and facilities that are helping the organisation progress toward its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035 whilst saving money.

One attendee summed up the day by saying “A really interesting day of discussions, networks, and a great tour of the Denso site.  Excellent!”, with another saying, “I learned a lot about skills that young people will need and can bring to the sector.”

Mike Sully, Manufacturing Engineering Senior Manager for Denso said “For Denso Marston, this was a good opportunity to showcase the progress we’re making in decarbonisation and energy reduction with practical projects, executed with other local stakeholders that we hope others across the region can adopt within their own facilities. It was also a great chance for us to listen to and learn from the range of people from Bradford who are genuinely passionate about the district’s industrial decarbonisation.  We look forward to seeing where this collaborative approach will take us over the next decade.”
